Believe it or not, mostly everyone has experienced something at one time or another, a brief moment where they have tried to style or cut their own hair or cut someone else’s hair. Cutting hair is often a universal skill that can be used literally ALL around the world, especially if it is well known how to cut all textures of hair.
I am a licensed Master Barber with over 23 years of barbering experience. I am very thankful for discovering the craft and I am very excited to have the capability to share with everyone the proper information exactly how to to become a barber. First of all, may to ask yourself:
“Why do you need to be a barber?” I needed to become a barber for the independence, flexibility, the people you meet, the income, the diversity and more. The reason I say ask yourself this question is must be lot of people THINK they want to become barbers and then things don’t happen like they thought they would and they then want to stop and get started pursuing other ventures. That are used for wanting to become a barber has to be so strong enough that you won’t let any type of negativity or doubt come into your mind and stop you from becoming a barber.
After a person figured the actual “why”, an additional is to be able to a school or local barbershop a good apprenticeship package. If you choose to go to school, you will earn your license by attending school for 9 months to 2 years. The amount of time it will take for a person to finish school depends on if you decide to go to school full time or in someones spare time. Once you have completed your hours and passed the exam, THE WORLD IS One!!
If you choose an apprenticeship, make sure it a great established barbershop location make sure that you won’t be wasting period and. The person you are working under always be the owner. The owner probably won’t bail from you in the near future. Barber employees come and go too frequently to risk an apprenticeship under one. If you work the actual owner, your chances might be described as a little bit greater for success as a student. I was lucky and worked under a barber. But he too eventually left the shop, but not before I finished this program.
Apprenticeship programs are n’t invariably free. Sometimes the barber you work under may charge you a weekly fee. After all, he already paid for license too. Make sure the fee is truthful. $25-$50 a week. Also make sure you keep copies of quite transcripts if your Master Barber starts to find a change of heart the actual jealousy. Sometimes when your clientele begins to pick up or your skills start to get better, the master Barber will receive a little jealous. So be careful and not test too difficult to outshine the actual! HA HA HA!!!!!!
Starting out, commission is the best until you are able to build up a people. Commission is when the owner gets a split on every haircut that you cut. For example, when the haircut is $10, along with the split is 60/40. He’ll get $4.00 (40%) and you will get $6.00 (60%). This is great when you are just beginning and you’re trying to build a clientele. Now once your split for the owner passes $200 1 week (50 haircuts a week),you need to request booth rental. At 50 haircuts a week on a 60/40 split, the owner makes $200(less products) and you make $300. But don’t forget, if you are on commission, the owner is needed to supply you with majority of your supplies. But it comes a point in commission structure when widely recognized it is not worth paying more than $300-$500 7 days in business earnings.
Commissions keeps a barber tied to the hip of the owner. Booth rental is alot smoother. Most of the time, a person first pay to get booth, currently employed when you want to as long as you meet your weekly booth rental quota and are able to. Booth rent should take life lightly lower and increase spanning a 3-6 month period. An easily affordable booth rental starting out is $100.00 week. Some shops charge as almost as much ast $300.00 full week. You can make $2,000 a week and simply pay $150.00 to $300.00 a week, and consider home about $1,500 to $1,700 that is certainly it. If you make $2,000 full week on a commission structure, you keep 60% that’s about $1,000 to $1,200.
When going into a new shop, don’t be over apprehensive. You have to make certain that the shop will surely be a good fit for both you and where you want to go on and. Some barbers prefer to cut white hair, some barbers prefer to mow black hair, and some barbers want diversity. But at no more the day, that precisely what is delicious about our barber companies!! However you choose to pursue it, it’s all up for. I LOVE IT!!
Unless purchase some designer swimwear to be working for a large corporation, do not own high expectations as far as framework of most barbershops. You will discover a great barbershop maybe 1 your own 50. When i say great, I am talking about the lease is paid on time, the light bill pays on time, the water is hot, the heat and a/c works, the owner is not sparatically increasing booth rental, you have supplies to market for extra income, health plan, customer service, nice decor, clean atmosphere and anything else that is often a benefit. I simply gave you an example of maybe 1 shop out of 50 which has been structured you are able to.
